Henson & Efron attorney Scott M. Hagel recently spoke at the Minnesota Small Business Conference on the advantages and disadvantages of partnerships, including insights on how to create partnerships and the state's formation requirements, what agreements should be in place, and the income and estate tax implications.

Attorney David Bradley Olsen was featured in the December 4 Sunday edition of the StarTribune newspaper in a "Viewpoint" column about the complexities of non-compete contracts. In the article, Olsen offers lessons on non-competes resulting from the firm's successful challenge of a six-year non-competition agreement for wrestling and ultimate fighting champion Brock Lesnar. Bottom line: Olsen states that in Minnesota, non-compete agreements are enforceable, but only to the extent that they are reasonable.

On December 8, 2011, Stuart Williams was re-elected Vice President of the Minnesota Board of Nursing. The Board is responsible for licensing and regulating more than 110,000 nurses and all nursing education programs in the State.

Partners David Bradley Olsen and Suzanne M. Remington were recently featured on two broadcast stations in the Minneapolis/St. Paul market. Olsen was interviewed on CBS station WCCO regarding filing a lawsuit in Hennepin County District court on behalf of his client, seeking damages for breach of contract. Remington was in studio live at FOX station KMSP discussing the legal ramifications of prenuptial agreements.
